Benno MailArchiv 2.0 archives e-mails highly performant even on older hardware
New things are famously curiosity-inducing. And so we were curious how Benno MailArchiv 2.0 performs performance-wise in practice. For months now a BETA installation has been running at a larger customer virtually productively, where about 30,000 emails are archived day after day. That means a significant throughput that must be achieved, because each email is indexed “on the fly”, i.e., in conjunction with archiving in the full-text index.
To see how our Benno MailArchiv BETA2 performs on older hardware, we put it to the test and found our expectations confirmed: Benno MailArchiv 2.0 is highly performant even on older hardware!
Hardware used:
- Lenovo ThinkPad R61 (approx. > 3 years old)
- CPU Intel Core2 Duo, 2.50GHz
- RAM 4 GB
- Hard drive SATA-300 / 5400 rpm / Fujitsu MHZ2250B 250 GB
Total number of imported emails: 517,404 emails
Average throughput at 7 samples: 14.2 emails/sec.
Average throughput for 156,085 archived and full-text indexed emails: 13,5 Mails/Sek.
These are values that can be seen without a doubt.
