Access to the emails securely archived in Benno MailArchiv is standardly secured with a username and password. Through the user administration with the permissions stored there, Benno MailArchiv controls what the user can find and see in the archive.

The access security to the archived emails can be significantly increased using two-factor authentication (2FA).

With privacyIDEA our cooperation partner NetKnights can now very easily extend any Benno MailArchiv installation with 2FA. Access to the archive is therefore no longer dependent only on “knowledge” (username and password), but additionally on the factor “possession”, namely the ownership of the security medium that represents the second authentication factor and without which a login is blocked.
